Friendship Baptist Church

Friendship Baptist Church Mission Statement
Our mission statement is based upon the biblical instructions that Christ gave to the Church from the parable of the “ten servants” in Luke 19:12-27; it is in this passage at verse 13 that He instructs the servants: “Pragmateusasthe” which means “Occupy till I come” in koine Greek — the language of His day. It is our firm commitment to the Lord and the crux of what we make every effort to do on a consistent basis. We are committed to maintaining this mission for the length of our very existence.

Island Harvest Mission Statement
Island Harvest was created in 1992 by one woman with a cooler, a station wagon, and a strong desire to help people in need. Linda Breitstone, our founder, was infuriated that food from a local convenience store was being thrown away at the end of the day – with a safe house for women and children down the street. In response, she established Island Harvest and our mission, “to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island.”

In 1904, the district was designated by the State of New York as a “union free school district”, which entitled it to offer a full kindergarten through grade 12 program. The first high school diplomas were awarded in 1907. Since that time, more than 15,000 students have graduated from Roslyn High School.
